About Ink & Wire
Ink & Wire is a personal news reader. Each Reader chooses the Feeds they want, and we lay them out as a broadsheet front page, with suggestions for local news based on where they are.
What we show
- Headlines, as published in the Source's own Feed.
- A short Snippet from the Feed: plain text, cut to about 200 characters. We never keep the Feed's HTML.
- Images, loaded straight from the publisher's own servers. We don't copy or store them.
- The Source's name beside every story, and a link out to the original article.
What we don't
- We never fetch, store or show full article text. There's no reader mode, no full-text search and no AI summaries of articles. To read a story, you go to the Source.
- There are no ads, on any page.
- Papers are unlisted. A Reader can share a link to their Paper, but Papers are never indexed by search engines or listed anywhere.
For publishers
Every request we make to your site, for a Feed or anything else, identifies itself with this User-Agent:
InkAndWire/1.0 (+https://inkandwire.app/about)
We only read Feeds that Readers have chosen or that we suggest, about every 15 minutes or less often if your Feed asks. We fetch an article page only to find its preview image, only for publishers whose terms allow it, and only when your robots.txt does too.
If you'd rather we didn't show your content, email us and tell us which you'd like:
- No images: we keep your headlines, Snippets and links, without your images.
- A full block: we stop fetching your Feeds and stop showing your stories.
Email publishers@example.com from your organisation's domain, with the site or Feeds concerned. We act on requests by hand.
